    The sacrament of Baptism

    • Whether you are awaiting the birth of your child, already have a newborn, or have a child who is several months old, we are happy to assist you in preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism. Parents serve as the first and most influential teachers of a child’s faith. The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that baptism “is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments” (1213).
  • Preparing for Baptism

    • Baptism Registration
        • Parent(s): Complete the Baptism registration form.  Parents should be registered parishioners of St. Patrick Parish.  If you are not registered with us, please call us for more information.
        • Celebration of Baptism: Baptisms are scheduled and celebrated privately at this time after 11:30 a.m. Mass on select Sundays. The baptism preparation deadline is one month prior to the baptism date.  All materials must be received and seminars completed before a baptism can be confirmed.
        • CONTACT: Melissa Harshbarger, 753-5750, [email protected]
    • Baptism Seminar
      • Baptismal Seminar: Before parents take on the responsibility of raising their children in the faith, the church seeks to help them understand the meaning of baptism and deepen their own embrace of the Christian way of life. Therefore, parents and godparents are required to attend a baptism seminar.  Click here to request a Baptism Seminar.

    • Godparents
        • Godparents must be confirmed, practicing Catholics at least 16 years of age, and if married, married by a Catholic Priest or Deacon, in the church. You must have at least one Godparent.  A Christian Witness is a person practicing any other faith.  (They must have been baptized in another denomination.  They cannot be a baptized Catholic who is not practicing the Catholic faith.)  More information about Godparents will be discussed at the Seminar.
        • Godparents must complete a Baptism seminar and turn in a Godparent Eligibility Form.
