Thank you for your interest in the Sacrament of Baptism at St. Patrick Church. Whether you are awaiting the birth of your child, already have a newborn, or have a child who is several months old, we are happy to assist you. Parents serve as the first and most influential teachers of your child’s faith and other things. The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that baptism “is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments” (1213).
Preparing for Baptism
Parents of the child being baptized must be registered parishioners of St. Patrick. Complete the Baptism registration form.
2. Baptismal Seminar:
Before parents take on the responsibility of raising their children in the faith, the church seeks to help them understand the meaning of baptism and deepen their own embrace of the Christian way of life. Therefore, parents and godparents are required to attend a baptism seminar. Due to COVID-19, we are not holding group seminars at this time but virtual options are available. Click here to request a Baptism Seminar.
Requirements for a Godparent or Christian Witness are:
- Godparent - Catholic - Baptized, Confirmed, Practicing, at least 16 years old, and if married, married by a Catholic Priest or Deacon, in church – (at least one of the Godparents must be Catholic)
- Christian Witness – practicing any other faith – (At least 16 years old)
- Godparent cannot be the parent of child being baptized.
- Godparents must complete a Baptism seminar and turn in a Godparent Eligibility Form.
5. Celebration of Baptism:
Due to COVID-19, baptisms may be celebrated privately after 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday at the dates listed. (Dates are subject to change.)
The baptism preparation deadline is one month prior to the baptism date. All materials must be received and seminars completed before a baptism can be confirmed.
