After many months of anticipation, the new plaza sidewalks were opened today! After a few touch-ups, the project will be 100% complete. Your continued contributions to the parish Building Fund have made this beautiful improvement possible.

See exciting new photos taken today by clicking here! We see the first sign of steel columns going up while still dealing with several days of rain. The project is still on schedule despite the bad weather!

Update... August 12, 2009:
Construction began this week on the project. The courtyard is in the process of being demolished starting with the fountain, light poles, benches, and some trees. Parishioners are learning the "new" paths to the church and office thanks to easy-to-follow signs placed around the campus.
Update... July 16, 2009:
Prior to our area’s financial crisis, our estimated expense for this project was approximately $500,000. However, now that we have received bids from five different contractors it looks as if we may be able to keep our projected costs under $400,000. To keep the courtyard construction area safe, our contractor, Block Construction, will close off that area with temporary fencing. Everyone approaching the church from the east side will need to walk on the front (north) side of the Family Center or use the youth building sidewalk to the back (south) side of the Church Office. We are hoping that the entire project will be complete within the next six months. As usual, Mother Nature will have a great deal to say about the actual time of construction.
Update... July 6, 2009:
The project is currently out for bid. At their July 7 meeting, the Building Committee will receive bids from local contractors and hopefully award the bid that evening. Construction is expected to begin in early August and conclude in early November.
Previously Published Information:
In March of 2009, the Parish Building Committee and Council of Ministries unanimously recommended final concept plans for a new Plaza for the parish. The plaza will include covered walkways connecting the church, family center, and administration buildings. It will also feature a porte cochere in the east parking lot connected to the walkways for convenient passenger drop-off, a larger fountain, more outdoor seating, and a handicap-accessible covered ramp to the family center. Additionally, 15-20 new parking spaces will be added.
